Hi darth,

There was a brief gold rush just below Trevallyn Dam in the early 19th century. I believe it was very short lived as there wasn't much more than a bit of colour. I don't believe there's much gold in the North Esk, but there is around Blessington.

Greetings to you both. I am a local in the area and have done panning in the St Leonards and corilyn area and had no luck. However I have been lately going to Hadspen and finding good colour there aswell as another of different coloured quats. If you are interested I am likely to be going there for a few hours on Saturday morning if you want to go.

Wow your responses are great. I would love to know where the creek is at beams hollow and have a little look. I have just been going to the picnic ground at the bridge and finding enough colour there for a little bit of fun. Maybe 20-30 pieces per 20l bucket. Mainly pen dot size. Found a nice 1 gram price it the roots at the base of all the willows there and more black sand than you could ever imagine.

If you google gold at Beams Hollow Clinton you'll find some good info.

i tried that mate and it kept taking me around in circles.

is the land at which the creek is on privately owned or do we need to get permission to go on the land and dig?
